VILLAGERS in Nangoma have run amok and burnt down a Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) camp after a suspected poacher, who was shot in the leg died.
ZAWA public relations officer Sakabilo Kalembwe said the incident happened on Thursday at about 21:00 hours after the suspected poacher, who was shot in the leg, died due to excessive bleeding.
Mr Kalembwe named the suspect as Evans Mwempwa, who died on the way to Nangoma Mission Hospital after he was shot in Lochinvar National Park in Malazya, which is under chief Shakumbila.
He said ZAWA officers shot Mwempwa in defence when he and other suspects opened fire. He has appealed to people in game management areas not to take the law into their own hands.
This happen because man hurt follow man. And not respecting human beings.
