The Constitution of Zambia Bill of 2015 has been published in the Press.
The document has been published in today’s Zambia Daily Mail and contains what government refers to as none contentious issues.
On Thursday last Week Justice Minister Ngosa Simbyakula announced in Parliament that the Constitution Amendment Bill 2015 and the Constitution of Zambia Bill 2015 have been drafted and that the two documents will be published in the media starting from Saturday August 1, 2015.
Dr. Simbyakula says priority was given to legislation that require urgent intervention measures such as tax reforms, retirement age, and Tourism and wildlife sectors.
The Bill that has been published contains the General election date which will be on the second Thursday of August every after the expiry of 5 year term.
Others are the Running Mate clause and the establishment of Provincial parliament.
The Constitution of Zambia Bill of 2015 is expected to be tabled in Parliament during the next sittings.
However the Grand Coalition on the Campaign for a People-Driven Constitution Chairperson Father Leonard Chiti says the coalition is concerned that the PF Government plans to adopt and enact the new constitution through parliament with the exception of the Bill of Rights.
Father Chiti says in a statement issued to ZNBC News that the parliamentary route of adoption is not good.
