Three people have died while six others are nursing injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in over turned on the Mungwi – Mbesuma road.
The accident happened at Chibao village in Mungwi district yesterday after a rear tyre burst.
Both Northern Province Permanent Secretary Hlobotha Nkunika and regional Deputy Police Commissioner Alfred Nawa confirmed the accident to ZANIS today.
Mr Nawa said among the deceased are two women and a man who have not yet been identified.
Mr Nawa identified the driver of the Toyota Noah bearing registration number ACX 1220 as Justin Chileshe aged 25.
And Northern Province Permanent Secretary Hlobotha Nkunika has described the accident as unfortunate.
Mr Nkunika however urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads.
He has since reiterated his call on traffic police and the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) to intensify patrols in order to curb road carnage.
