Boy,13 dies in a tunnel after being told to excavate sand by teacher

A 13 year old Grade five pupil of Milambo Primary School in senior Chief Milambo’s area in Milenge district has died after being buried in a tunnel.

Milambo Ward Councillor Albert Chama confirmed the incident to ZANIS and identified the deceased as Misheck Kunda.

He said the deceased along with other pupils were assigned to excavate sand by their teacher in a tunnel and it was at this point that sand buried him.

Mr Chama said the incident happened around 15:00hrs on Tuesday.

He said the unfortunate incident could have been avoided had there been a teacher to supervise the pupils.

Mr Chama said the body has since been buried and the body has been marked for easy identification.
