President Edgar Lungu has ordered the Ministry Of Mines and Mopani Copper Mines to urgently retrieve the four bodies of the miners who died on Sunday night after the underground pit caved in at Mopani Copper Mine’s South Ore Body Shaft.
President Lungu says he is saddened over the death of the four and wished the bereaved families Gods comfort during this trying time.
He said this in a message delivered to the families by Mines Deputy Minister Richard Musukwa when he visited the funeral homes for the four in Kitwe Tuesday.
And family members of the deceased have appealed to Mopani Copper mines to urgently furnish them with information on what happened on Sunday.
Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili who lost a nephew in the Mopani accident says the death of the four miners is a mystery because Mopani has not availed them with a detailed report on the matter.
