Six candidates have successfully filed in nominations in the August 6 Bangweulu Constituency parliamentary by-election.

ZNBC’s Lillian Kalaba reports that one independent candidate Elijah Bwalya pulled out at the last minute after failing to meet the requirements.

 

Those who successfully filed in nominations are Forum Democracy and Development FDD’s , Robby Mwansa, Morgan Mwewa of National Restoration Party(NAREP) and one female independent candidate Prudence Mwansa.

Others are Antony Kasandwe for the PF, CDP have John Kabila Kulela while UPND is fielding Bulako Muma in the seat which fell vacant following the death of Patriotic front candidate Chifita Matafwali.

 

Earlier, the CDF candidate John Kabila Kulela struggled to raise the required number of witnesses and supporters and only filed in his nominations towards the end of his scheduled filing time.

And speaking to ZNBC News after filling-in nominations, the six candidates promised to deliver development to the people of Samfya and improve their standard of living.

 

Meanwhile, Samfya District Retuning Officer Liftery Ndaba says three quarters of election materials for the by-election slated for August 6, have already arrived in the district.

He also says campaigns for the seat are now open. Samfya has 14, 958 registered voters.
