PATRIOTIC Front (PF) youths have appealed to party secretary-general Davies Chama to facilitate the holding of a party national youth congress to foster peace and national unity.
PF youth organising chairperson Eddie Gowa said in a statement yesterday that youths are grateful that the party leaders allowed them to meet on Tuesday and to advocate peace as demonstrated by President Lungu.
Mr Gowa said the PF youth national congress should be held as soon as possible to inculcate the spirit of peace, which will also help to cement the motto `One Zambia, One Nation’.
“As youths in PF, we strongly denounce all forms of violence and we are appealing to all political leaders to equally condemn all acts of violence and embrace dialogue as we have opted to,” Mr Gowa said
He said youths play a pivotal role in national development hence the need for them to be peaceful.
“We are appealing to our leaders to embrace youths because they are the drivers of this economy and the leaders of the future,” he said.
Mr Gowa said PF youths have pledged total loyalty to President Lungu and the party leadership.
And PF youth organising secretary Francis Muchemwa said time has come for the youth both in PF and other political parties to refuse to be used as tools of violence by some selfish individuals.
Mr Muchemwa said PF youths have resolved to embrace peace and contribute to national development.
“We are in the foot-steps of President Lungu, who is a man that does not want anything to do with violence. We have chosen to be peaceful in all our dealings,” he said.
