Pupils at Kabompo Secondary School in North Western Province have rioted and damaged property at the school following the mysterious death of three of their school mates.
Ministry of Education Spokesperson Hillary Chipango says the three pupils at Kabompo Secondary School died within a space of 10 days,leading to suspicions of witchcraft.
Mr. Chipango says following the mysterious death of the three pupils, their colleagues went on a rampage destroying school property while some belongings have also been stolen.
He has since appealed for calm amongst pupils and the community as the Ministry awaits a report from the Ministry of Health to ascertain the cause of death.
Mr Chipango has sent a message of condolences to the bereaved families stating that the Ministry is saddened over the development.
Meanwhile, Copperbelt University Students Union- COBUSU has appealed to Government to intervene in the impasse between CBU management and the labour movement who are demanding for resignation of the Vice Chancellor.
COBUSU President Humphrey Mwenya has told ZNBC News that the impasse is affecting the academic calendar of students.
He says students are eager to start learning because the environment at the university is conducive.
Mr. Mwenya has urged the Minister of Education to quickly intervene and avoid disturbing the academic calendar.
