A Winston Kalengo last spot kick booked Zambia a place in the second round of the 2016 Chan qualifiers after Zambia beat Namibia in a well contested first round second leg of the qualifiers.
Zambia scored in the 30th minute of the first half through Festus Mbewe but Namibia’s Benjamen Nenkavu equalised at the stoppage time of the first half.
Namibia came with full force in the second half making the Zambian defence tumble with errors.
The George Lwandamina tutored boys showed determination in the well contested match and saw them score a sitter in the 72nd through Winston Kalengo who headed in a Festus Mbewe rebound shot.
Chipopolo goal minder Danny Munyau kept erring in the goal post exposing the goal post to the visitors.
Namibia’s Keimuine Nenkavu gave the Zambian defence no breathing space as he kept attacking in the 18 area.
And Winston Kalengo missed a Patson Daka cross with only the goalkeeper to beat.
At fulltime time Zambia and Namibia were three all on goal aggregate following as a result of Namibia’s 2-1 victory over Zambia at home.
In a spot kick to decide the winner , both teams were level at four goals apiece.
However Danny Munyau turned automatic hero of the match when he saved Namibia’s penalty before Winston Kalengo scored to give Zambia a victory.
This means the Chipolopolos will face either Seychelles or Mozambique in the second round qualifiers.
Meanwhile Chipolopolo trainer George Lwandamina says the win will give the boys courage and confidence in the next gams to come.
And Namibia Coach Fillemon Kanalelo says Zambia is a power house name in Africa and the loss is as a result of his team not exposed to African football.
Kanalelo added that his boys put a good fight even though they lost.
