Nine people have been arrested for illegal possession of 14 homemade fire arms during a joint operation by the Zambia Police Service and Zambia Wild Life Authority -ZAWA- in Muchinga Province.
The joint team of operation conducted the search in three villages between Isoka and Nakonde districts.
Muchinga Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka has confirmed the arrest to the Zambia News and Information Services -ZANIS- on Monday in Chinsali.
Mr. Daka said 14 homemade guns commonly known as muzzle loaders, 26 live ammunitions, 31 empty cartridges and 500 grams of gun powder were recovered during the operation.
The Police Commissioner said all the suspects who are currently detained in Nakonde will appear in court soon.
