Midfielder Lubambo Musonda has been ruled out of Zambia’s 2016 Caf African Nations Championship (Chan) qualifier away against Namibia this Saturday.

Zambia team manager Lusekelo Kamwambi said Lubambo has been withdrawn from the team due to administrative reasons.

The midfielder has been clubless since March after suddenly parting ways with his Armenian club Ulisses FC midway through a twelve-month deal.

“Lubambo is still waiting to be cleared by his former club Ulisses because he is still appearing as a professional player,” Kamwambi said.

The news means Lubambo remain ineligible to feature as a domestic player in the 2016 qualifiers

Chan is a tournament exclusively meant for home-based players.

Lubambo was part of the main Zambia team that was held to a scoreless home draw by Guinea Bissau in a 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier on June 13 in a match he came on as a second half substitute.

Meanwhile, Zambia has suffered another setback with the withdrawal of Nkana defender Kapota Kayawe due to illness.

Zambia will leave for Windhoek on Friday for the first round, first leg match while the return leg will be played on July 4.

Chipolopolo are attempting to qualify for the Chan tournament for the first time since 2009 when they won bronze at the inaugural tournament hosted by Cote d’Ivoire.

They subsequently failed to qualify for Sudan 2011 and South Africa 2014 tournaments.
