The Zambia national women soccer team has been eliminated from the 2016 Brazil Olympics qualifiers race.
This is after the team lost to Zimbabwe, one-zero in the second leg of the preliminary round qualifier game, played in Harare on Sunday.
The two had ended on a 2-all aggregate score-line, however the Zambians were eliminated on an away goal rule, having won the first leg, on a 2-1 score-line.
This is according to a statement availed to TV 2 news by Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- Spokesperson, Nkweto Tembwe.
Meanwhile, the Under-23 men’s side is expected to play the first leg of the CAF Under-23 Championships against Ivory Coast on July 17, in Abidjan.
The Zambian team qualified to the next round of the qualifiers after they beat Botswana 2-zero on Sunday.
The winner will qualify to the Senegal CAF Under-23 Championships later this year.
The top three nations at these Championships will proceed to Brazil for the 2016 Olympics.
