Senior Chief Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda speaking people of Luapula Province has demanded civil servants working in his chiefdom to keep him updated on infrastructure projects taking place there.
The Mwata says he is concerned that since his chiefdom was declared a district by government recently civil servants working in the area have offered him little or no updates on government development projects taking place there.
ZANIS reports that the Traditional leader said this at his palace on when Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili paid a courtesy call on him.
He however said he was grateful to the late President Sata for granting his request for his chiefdom to become a district which he said would now bring development and public services closer the people.
The traditional leader maintained that civil servants deployed to work from the area to update him especially on all the Contractors government has awarded various projects in his district so that they could also ensure that help some needy areas of the chiefdom as a social responsibility.
And Mr. Kambwili urged the civil servants in the area to keep the Mwata updated on the development projects in his district because the development of the district will also uplift the living standards of the people.
He added that it is important for the Government officers and traditional leaders to work together in fostering development for the people.
