.A 71- year- old woman of Shinda area in Solwezi district has been murdered by her relatives after suspecting her of practicing witchcraft.
The incident happened on May 6th around 01:00 hours and police has arrested two suspects while the other is on the run.
North Western Province Commissioner of Police Grace Chipalila confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Solwezi and identified the deceased as Anyesi Kawangu of Shinda area in Meheba.
Ms Chipalila said Kawangu was hanged to a tree by three of her relatives using a chitenge material about 300 meters away from her house.
She said Kawangu’s body was found with bruises on her body and a broken neck.
Ms Chipalila identified the three suspects as Alex Muke, Batista Chipoya and Mbuyi Seki of unknown ages but all of Lumwana east area.
She said the body of Kawangu is lying in Solwezi general hospital mortuary awaiting a post mortem while the suspects are in police custody and will appear in court soon.
