Chief Government Spokesperson, Chishimba Kambwili says government is disappointed with the sentiments by Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) President Charles Milupi that government was fooling the people of Western Province over the 14 million US dollar loan to improve water and sanitation.
Cabinet on Monday approved the acquisition of the US $14million from the OPEC Fund for International Development to improve water sanitation in 100 villages in 16 districts of Western Province.
However, Mr Milupe reacted to the announcement by saying it was ridiculous for President Lungu’s Cabinet to fool the people of Western Province that they will spend US$14million to provide water to 100 villages in Western Province.
Mr Milupe added that the Patriotic Front (PF) government had taken the country one step towards a failed state as evidenced by the nationwide power outage experienced on Monday.
ZANIS reports from Ndola that Mr Kambwili observed when he addressed journalists in Ndola today that Mr Milupi is scared because he had realized that government is now dominating the Western Province where he (Milupi) thought he was popular.
Mr Kambwili, who is also Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services added that there is no corruption involved in the US$14million loan meant to improve the livelihood of the poor people.
Mr. Kambwili further urge Mr. Milupi to apologize to the Zambian people for making such a statement which would bring chaos to the nation.
He noted that Mr. Milupi had teamed up with a group that is calling upon the secession of Western Province and has become the spokesperson.
He has advised the ADD Leader to concentrate on organizing his party than attacking government anyhow.-ZANIS
