Saint Ignatius Parish Priest Father Chilinda has urged civil servants to be slaves of the people in society in order to develop the country.
Fr. Chilinda said civil servants should diligently discharge their duties in society to serve the needs of the people rather than putting their self-interest first.
He disclosed this development during a Mass which took place at St Ignatius Catholic Church in Lusaka today.
Fr. Chilinda observed that some civil servants do not want to carry responsibilities that have no monetary gains a situation he said has contributed to poor service delivery in Zambia.
He said civil servants should sacrifice themselves for the betterment of the Zambian people if the country was to develop.
He explained that Ministers should minister what people are lacking in society as it was the definition of their status in the community.
Fr. Chilinda has however advised civil servants to emulate God who sacrificed his life for others and became a good shepherd to followers.
Being a slave should not mean your family starves.
