Government has expressed shock and sorrow at the death of a Muvi Television journalist, three German doctors and a driver who died in a road traffic accident two days ago while on tour of duty in Southern Province.
Minister of Information, Chishimba Kambwili, who is also Chief Government Spokesperson, said it was painful that the deceased died while on a charitable mission to deliver health care services to local people in the province.
He has described the death of the Muvi journalist Priscilla Phakati as a loss to the nation saying the country has been robbed of a young and brilliant talented person who had potential in the journalism profession.
“On behalf of the government and on my own behalf, I convey deep felt condolences to the bereaved families on this sad loss,” he said.
Mr. Chishimba also conveyed condolences to the government of the Federal Republic of Germany on the death of the three volunteer medical doctors who were on a medical humanitarian mission in Southern Province when the accident happened.
He wished the bereaved families God’s strength and comfort during the trying moment.
The accident happened after a Toyota Prado they were traveling in collided with a construction vehicle on the Bottom Road in Gwembe district.
