Seven families of Kalense village in Kasama district have been left homeless after their houses collapsed due to a heavy down pour of rains experienced in the area recently.
John Bwalya who confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kasama today said the United Church of Zambia building in the area had also partially collapsed.
Mr. Bwalya who is a member of the United Church of Zambia has since appealed to the Disaster Management and Mitigation unit to help the affected families.
Mr. Bwalya revealed that part of the Church building collapsed and has left members with nowhere to congregate from.
Mr. Bwalya has also called on other well-wishers to assist the affected families settle down.
Efforts to get a comment from DMMU in Kasama failed.
