Government has been called upon to consider evacuating Zambian citizens living in South Africa in view of the outbreak of xenophobic violence in that country.
Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza has also called on the African Union and SADC to come out strong and condemn the attacks against foreign nationals in South Africa.
Mr. Mwanza says SADC and AU must also consider imposing further sanctions that will compel the South African authorities to redress this situation.
He has told QFM News that it is sad that from the first time Xenophobic violence broke out in South Africa, the world has heard no case in which perpetrators received heavy jail sentences for the crimes against humanity they committed.
Mr. Mwanza has also reminded those perpetrating the attacks that their criminal actions within their country against foreign nationals may pose a serious risk to South Africans and their interests in affected countries that may feel aggrieved.

If a Zambian dies in SA then that person would have chosen their own fate because Zambians behave silly at most times. they know that this is not the first time such a thing has happened before so the best is jump on the next bus or plane home. Most Zambians living in South Africa are illegal immigrants whom the Zambian Highcommission does not know there where abouts so suggesting that Govt evacuates Zambians is not a solution by suggesting that Zambians living in SA come back home is a solution. So far i have seen embassy officials have advertised contact phones numbers and its my hope Zambians living in SA have taken up the challenge to contact embassy officcials and volunteer to be repatriated. May God protect his people …….. justsaying
