A pastor of a named church in Mansa district has been committed to the High Court for sentencing, facing rape charges.
The pastor, Julius Kabaso (40)was arraigned before Mansa Magistrate, Sibaleya Chikuba, facing charges of rape as in Section 132 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia as amended by Act number 2 of 2011.
Allegations are that on October 17, 2014 in Mansa District, Pastor Kabaso had carnal knowledge of a 16-year-old girl of Medium Density area without her consent.
The girl testified in court that she had an epileptic attack on that material day and was taken to the pastor for prayers in New Mufurila.
She narrated to the court that Pastor Kabaso instructed an intercessor named Dorcas to apply her private parts with anointing oil before he prayed for her.
She said the pastor then told her to sleep on the mattress where he forced himself on her.
Magistrate Chikuba found the pastor with a case to answer and has since convicted him for the offence of rape and committed him to the High Court for sentencing.
