Zambian Ambassador Ibrahim Mumba recently met with officials of the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) for various projects.
“About 10 percent of Zambia’s population is Muslim but the discussions were not restricted to assisting Muslims alone but also all Zambians as the IIRO renders help without consideration of creed, tribe, and political and religious affiliations,” he said.
He met with IIRO Programs Director Abdullah M. Habhab and Office Affairs Department Director Abdul Rahman M. Al-Matter in Jeddah early this week.
Mumba requested that IIRO Secretary-General Ehssan Saleh Taieb include Zambia in his itinerary when he visits selected African countries soon. He added that the IIRO also renders help to areas of disaster “but I informed them that in Zambia, disaster management falls under the office of the republican vice president.”
