Green Party leader Peter Sinkamba has requested for a meeting with President Edgar Lungu to discuss strategies to address current economic challenges the country is facing, including the depreciating Kwacha.

Mr. Sinkamba says among the strategies he intends to discuss with the President is the conceptual framework for the proposed US$ 10 million pilot Green Gold Medicinal Marijuana Investments Project.

He says the meeting with the President is being coordinated by the Presidential Aide for Project Implementation and Monitoring Lucky Mulusa.

Mr. Sinkamba hopes that President Lungu will give the pilot project the favorable and urgent consideration it deserves stating that the project if granted license to take-off will become a model not only for Zambia, but Africa as a whole in terms of cultivation, processing, dispensing and export of medicinal marijuana.

He adds that the current economic challenges Zambia is facing today are not a problem for government alone but for every one whether in government or opposition.

He says there is need to start thinking outside the box by coming up with unconventional and creative thinking strategies to grow the economy of the country substantially.

Mr. Sinkamba says people need to come up with innovative strategies that increase exports, taxation, fees and levies so that in the long-run the country grows its domestic and export revenue base considerably.

He states that it is only through increased export revenue base that the Kwacha will be strengthened significantly, and not rhetoric on either side.
