President Edgar Lungu is expected to be discharged from a Pretoria hospital today after he underwent a medical procedure in theatre yesterday.
President Lungu is admitted at a Pretoria hospital where he is receiving specialist treatment to correct his achalasia a condition of the narrowing of the food pipe which caused him to fall ill during the celebrations of the International Women’s Day on March 8 at the Heroes stadium in Lusaka.
Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda says the Specialists attending to the Head of State have managed the condition accordingly.
Mr Chanda said in the 5th Medical Bulleting on President Lungu’s condition released to ZANIS last evening at 20: 45 hours that Doctors said the results of the procedure were good.
He said as such, the President will be discharged from the Pretoria hospital today, March 14.
The President has been asked to return for medical review in a few weeks’ time.
Mr Chanda said the Zambian and South African doctors attending to the President are all satisfied with the outcome of the comprehensive medical attention.
He said the Zambia team has thanked their South African counterparts for the expert support rendered to the President.
