ACC nabs ‘corrupt’ police officer

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a police officer in Choma district for alleged corrupt practices.

 

ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono said  Namushi Mundia, 35 has been charged with one count of corrupt practices by public officer contrary to the laws of Zambia.

 

Mr. Moono said particulars of the offence are that on unknown dates but between August 1, 2013 and September 2013 in Choma, Mundia, who is an Inspector in the Zambia Police Service, being a police officer corruptly solicited for K2, 700 and then received K1, 200 cash from a named person.

 

He said the money was an inducement in order to facilitate the arrests of people who were threatening Formnet Chilyata with violence.

 

Mr. Moono said Mundia has since been arrested and will appear before the Choma Magistrate Court on April 1, 2015.
