Lands, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Christabel Ngimbu says government through the department of Community Development , Mother and Child health has put in place a programme to ensure that teenage challenges which includes unwanted pregnancies are reduced in Kafue district and the country at large.
Ms Ngimbu said this during the commemoration of the International Women’s Day in Kafue district.
Speaking earlier, Kafue District Acting Medical Officer in-Charge Mercy Imakando emphasized the importance of the health sector in the communities.
Dr Imakando , says Kafue district like other districts in the country shares the burden of high rates of infectious and non -communicable diseases.
She attributed the high rates of diseases in the district to poor diet and bad life styles.
She has since urged the communities in the district to utilize the screening services offered in the health centers in the district.
