All is set for Masaiti by-election nominations
Masaiti, March 8, ZANIS—————–All is set for the filing in of nominations by candidates participating in the Masaiti parliamentary by election set for April 14th 2015.
Masaiti Council Secretary Magumbwi Simunkolomba disclosed to ZANIS in an interview today that everything is in place for the filing in of nominations slated for Tuesday, March 10th 2015.
Mr. Simunkolombwa said candidates will file in their nominations between 09:00 hours and 15:00 hours on Tuesday.
He stated that all four candidates participating in the by election have since been informed of the time they are expected to file in their papers.
The Masaiti Council Secretary explained that the four candidates include Lean Mokola who is an independent candidate, Patriotic Front’s Michael Katambo, United Party for National Development’s Peter Mumba, and Fourth Revolution Party’s Mobby Mutaya.
Meanwhile Masaiti District Commissioner, Joseph Mwambana has praised the Patriotic Front (PF) for adopting former Masaiti UPND Member of Parliament Michael Katambo as its candidate in the April 14th by elections.
Mr. Mwambana described the move taken by the PF as progressive, saying it is time that the District had a Member of Parliament belonging to the ruling party to make it easier for the district to embrace development.
The Masaiti District Commissioner was speaking during the International Women’s day celebrations in Masaiti today.
The PF adopted former Masaiti UPND Member of Parliament Michael Katambo as its candidate in the coming by election.
The Masaiti seat fell vacant after the high court nullified the election of Michael Katambo as Member of Parliament after his election was petitioned by PF Copperbelt Chairperson Stardy Mwale.
