The Anti- Corruption Commission in Choma has arrested a Police Inspector at Chipepo Police Post in Gwembe District for corrupt practices involving K 4, 000.
ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono says Humphrey Nsonso Kaindu, 41, of house number 6 Workers Compound, Chipepo Secondary School, who is the Officer-in-Charge at Chipepo Police Post has been charged with one count of Corrupt Practices by Public Officer contrary to Section 19 (1) as read with section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012 of the Laws of Zambia.
Mr Mooono says details in the matter are that on unknown dates but between 1st January, 2013 and 31st December, 2013 in Chipepo, Kaindu, being a Public Officer namely a Police Officer stationed at Chipepo Police Post, jointly and whilst acting together with other unknown persons, corruptly solicited for K 4, 000 cash gratification from a named Chipepo Resident , as an inducement or reward for himself in order for him to release a Boat and Engine which were impounded by the Zambia Police without following the laid down procedure for the release of exhibits, a matter or transaction concerning the Zambia Police Service, a Public body.
He has since been released on bond and will appear in Court soon.
