Muhabi Lungu insists on MMD Convention
Lusaka, March 02, ZANIS——————-Embattled Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) former National Secretary Muhabi Lungu has reiterated his call for the former ruling party to quickly go for a national convention.
Mr Lungu feared that if the MMD fails to go for a convention soon, the former ruling party would go into oblivion.
Mr Lungu was speaking last night on MUVU TV assignment programme dubbed “good governance”.
He said it was sad that some senior party members were scared of going to the convention to elect new office bearers as enshrined in the party constitution.
Mr Lungu also revealed that the meeting he held at his residence recently had a blessing of the National Executive Committee (NEC) Members.
He said his meeting was attended by 34 NEC members adding that only seven were absent during that particular meeting.
Mr Lungu said the MMD was formed on democratic values which no one will be able to abrogate.
And Mr Lungu disclosed that the MMD NEC member decided to support President Edgar Lungu prior to January 20, 2015 by elections.
Mr Lungu also said those who supported the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema had their democratic right to do so.
