———A fish dam in Kalulushi’s Chankalamu ward has collapsed due to heavy rains.
District Commissioner Kampamba Mulenga told ZANIS in an interview in Kalulushi today that Kalumba Upper dam whose wall had been weakened over time eventually succumbed to the rain water pressure.
Ms. Mulenga said the dam which collapsed over the week end blocked many people, including school going children from crossing to the other side.
She said most people use the dam to cross to Saint Joseph’s Primary School, Kalumbwa Primary and Saint Joseph hospital.
She said people were now forced to use the lower dam at Saint Joseph’s mission which was a long route.
She assured the people of Chankalamu that government was doing everything possible to repair the dam since a report has been sent to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU).
