FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Kalusha Bwalya has assured sponsors of positive results.
Kalusha said FAZ will ensure that it pays back the good support it was enjoying from the corporate world with good results.
He said Zambian football has continued to flourish owing to the massive support that FAZ has been receiving from stakeholders.
Kalusha hailed MTN Zambia, the sponsors of the FAZ Super League, for its contribution to the development of football in the country.
He said it was through the sponsorship of the league that the company has created a platform for the local players to thrive.
The 1988 African Footballer-of-the-Year said the quality of Zambian football was being admired in the Southern African region because of the support it gets from the corporate world.
Sports Minister Vincent Mwale called on FAZ to be transparent and accountable to its sponsors.
“I would like to thank MTN Zambia for partnering with the Football Association ofZambia and for believing in us. The MTN-FAZ league has grown from strength to strength both on and off the field. The company has allowed our players and teams to thrive and tap into the Zambian talents.
In our AFCON team, we had a number of players that were drawn from the local league and we were only beaten by South Africa. So it is with such partnerships that our football will reach greater heights. Zambian football is the envy of Southern Africa,” Kalusha said.
He said with the available resources, FAZ has continued to grow the game of football to the extent of competing with some of the heavily funded football associations.
“Zambians are always determined, as a collective team we have been able to scale to greater heights but we are just half way and we have much further to climb. With sponsors like MTN on our side, we will achieve more,” he said.
