THE under-20 national team will face Senegal in an international match to prepare for the Africa Youth Championship finals kicking off on March 8 in Dakar.
Coach Hector Chilombo said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the friendly is set for March 2 in Dakar.
“The friendly game against Senegal is very important for us because it will be a final and real test for our boys before the tournament starts. We are very happy that FAZ managed to secure such an important game,” he said.
“We might meet Senegal in the same tournament so the game will give us an idea of what to expect from them. We are preparing the boys well for the tournament and so far everything is okay,” he said.
He said skipper Lubambo Musonda, who plies his trade in Armenia and Israel- based forward Seith Sakala are expected in camp on Tuesday or Wednesday.
“By Wednesday we will have a full house. We expect everyone to be here. I am told even players from Red Arrows will be in camp by then,” Chilombo said.
Arrows quartet of Peter Mulenga, Patrick Ngoma, George Mandu and Bernard Chepeshi are yet to join camp.
Chilombo is expected to name the final squad on Tuesday and the team is scheduled to leave for Senegal on March 28.
And the under-20 team beat Lusaka Youth Academy 5-2 in a friendly at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka yesterday.
