Govt. pleased with its Early childhood development programme
Kafue, February 21, 2015, ZANIS —- Government says Early Childhood Development links children to social, emotional and physical processes which support their development.
Lusaka province minister, Obvious Mwaliteta says most vulnerable children in the country and Lusaka province in particular have no access to their basic needs.
ZANIS reports that the provincial minister said this through the District administrative officer Ngoni Moyo during the launch of early childhood programme in Kafue’s Chanyanya area.
Mr. Mwaliteta added that government recognizes the importance of early childhood development programmes.
He noted that it’s for this reason that government has introduced the Early child hood development programmes in schools, country wide.
The provincial minister has since commended the Anglican church for supplementing government efforts in Early childhood development.
Speaking earlier, Bishop of the Anglican diocese of Lusaka, David Njovu, said his church has enrolled more than 250 children ranging from o-6 years to prepare them for primary education and good adulthood.
Bishop Njovu explained the 0-6 years is a formative stage which is easier to adopt good morals in children’s growth.
The programme will enable the vulnerable children access the basic needs of their lives as parents and expectants mothers on the programme will be sensitized on requirements of early childhood development.
Representing Chanyanya community , Senior headman Sikuka expressed gratitude to the Anglican Church for selecting his area as a one of the beneficiaries of the programme .
The senior headman also thanked government for providing enabling environment for NGOS and other cooperating partners in implementing developmental programs.
