Government has appointed Tamara Kambikambi as the new Zambia Daily Mail Board Chairperson to replace Mizinga Melu.
Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili announced the appointment in a statement availed to ZANIS in Lusaka today.
Ms. Kambikambi replaces Ms. Mizinga Melu who has relinquished her position as a member and chairperson of the Zambia Daily Mail Board with immediate effect.
ZANIS reports that Mr Kambwili who is Minister of Information and Broadcasting said Ms Melu has relocated to South Africa to take up her new appointment with her employers.
Ms Melu stated in her letter dated 13th February, 2015 to Mr Kambwili that her current commitments in her new position have become great for her to adequately fulfill the requirements of Zambia Daily Mail Board Chairperson.
Mr Kambwili has thanked Ms Melu for her excellent and exceptional leadership that she provided to the Zambia Daily Mail as Board chairperson since 2012.
The minister said government notes with pride that under her leadership as Board chairperson, the Zambia Daily Mail has undergone major transformation in the quest to deliver quality news and information to the people.
These include the rebranding of the newspaper from a broadsheet to a Berliner, trendier, handier and attractive format, that has raised the newspaper’s profile and appeal to its clientele.
Mr Kambwili , however said government is confident that Ms. Kambikambi is competent and capable of guiding the Zambia Daily Mail in achieving its vision and mission in taking the newspaper to greater heights.
She is assured of Government’s undivided support.
The Minister also announced the appointment of Mrs. Exhilda Lumbwe and Mr. Famous Kabwe to the Zambia Daily Mail Board to fill up the vacancies necessitated by the departure of Ms. Melu and Mr. Webster Malido who have both relocated to South Africa in their new assignments.
Mr Kambwili said government is confident that Mrs. Lumbwe and Mr. Kabwe will bring into the Daily Mail Board the necessary expertise and experience.
