Government has appointed ZESCO Chief Operations Officer Victor Mundende as the new Managing Director for the power utility company replacing Cyprian Chitundu.
Minister of Mines, Energy and Water Development Christopher Yaluma confirmed the development in a press statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today.
Mr. Yaluma could however not give reasons for the change but has thanked Mr. Chitundu for his contributions towards the performance of ZESCO during his tenure of office as Managing Director for the parastatal company.
“I am pleased to inform the general public that Mr. Victor Mundende, Chief Operations Officer at ZESCO Limited has been appointed as the new Managing Director for ZESCO Limited replacing Mr. Cyprian Chitundu,” stated Mr. Yaluma in a brief statement.
Mr. Chitundu was reappointed ZESCO Managing Director by late President Michael Sata in 2011 taking over from Ernest Mupwaya who was alleged to have been dubiously appointed by the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) regime then.
