Lungu urges enhanced bilateral relations
Lusaka, February, 13, 2015, ZANIS—President Edgar Lungu says there is need to effectively utilise the joint permanent commission and other cooperation frameworks between Zambia and Angola.
Speaking during a State Banquet held in his honour by Angolan President Jose Eduardo Do Santos in Luanda today, Mr Lungu said Zambia and Angola needed to share experiences, information and exchange views on various government interventions and policies that are designed to enhance the wellbeing of the two countries.
Mr Lungu said he is committed to the enhancement of the bilateral relations between Zambia and Angola for mutual benefit.
He said he is confident that the visit to Angola will be another manifestation of the warm and friendly relations that exist between the two sisterly republics.
Mr Lungu also expressed sincere appreciation to the Angolan president for the support rendered to Zambia during the funeral of late republican President Michael Sata as well as the Golden jubilee celebrations of independence last October.
He further said Zambia has over the years maintained close relations that are under- pined by the common ancestry, language, culture and shared values.
Mr Lungu noted that at regional level both countries are committed to the realisation of regional stability that would foster rapid economic development.
President arrived in Angola today on an official courtesy visit at the invitation of President Jose Edwardo Dos Santos.
