—Youths in Chipata district in Eastern province have praised President Edgar Lungu for appointing a well-balanced and gender-sensitive Cabinet.
Centre for Human Rights Executive Director, Mwima Mtine, says President Lungu’s Cabinet has incorporated all the critical issues of people ranging from youths to women.
Mr Mtine also commended President Lungu for appointing opposition MMD’s Chipangali Member of Parliament, Vincent Mwale as Minister of Youth and Sport.
Mr Mtine, who is also a youth activist, told ZANIS in an interview in Chipata today, that Mr Mwale is a youthful, energetic and hard working person who will fit well in the ministry.
He said Mr Mwale is a hardworking and intelligent person who will effectively handle issues of youth development in the country.
Mr Mtine said the Ministry of Youth and Sport is one of the most important ministries in Zambia as it deals with the most sensitive group of people.
He noted that it is for this reason that Mr Mwale should pay attention to issues affecting the welfare of youths especially the increasing levels of unemployment among the youths and their low participation in economic development.
Mr Mtine said youths play an important role in the development of any country and should be given a platform to contribute to developmental projects.
Meanwhile, former Commonwealth Youth Representative for Zambia, Gilbert Chisenga, has called on the new Minster of Youth and Sport, Vincent Mwale, to quickly resolve the issues of the National Youth Development Council (NYDC).
