President Lungu urged to declare Chilubi as a new District
Kasama , February 12, 2015, ZANIS —- SOME concerned residents of Chilubi mainland have appealed to President Edgar Lungu to declare their area a new district.
They said during the Chilubi mainland consultative meeting attended by over 100 people, that it was time for the mainland to be given district status.
One of Lazarous Mushili said late president Michael Sata promised the people of Chilubi mainland a new district because he understood the geographical problems the people were going through in the area.
Mr. Mushili, who is also the PF Chaba ward chairperson , said people on the mainland usually had to cross the Lake Bangweulu to access various services on the Island.
He said the district status was important because it would help the local people access to goods and services easily.
Mr. Mushili added that people in the area were yearning for development.
The meeting was held in Matipa area in Chief Chiwanangala’s area under the theme, ‘Creation of a new district at the Mainland’.
