Govt warns companies on labour abuse
Ndola, February 12, 2015 ZANIS ZANIS —– Government has urged all companies to abide by the countries labour laws.
Ndola district Commissioner Rebby Chanda says his office has lately been receiving concerns from some workers about harassment and mistreatment at the hands of their employees.
Mr. Chanda who was accompanied by Provincial Labour officer, Eunice Mifima promised to carry out an exercise aimed at sensitising both the employers and employees on labour laws.
ZANIS reports that the District Commissioner said this during a familiarization tour of First Quantum Minerals Bwana Mkubwa Mine site and SYS Brothers Transport Ltd in Ndola yesterday.
Mr. Chanda said he decided to carry out inspections on companies in the city in a bid to see those that provide good working conditions of service and those that do not.
He said his office had come up with an award giving exercise to companies that provide good working conditions to their employees and abide by the Zambian labour laws.
The Ndola DC said the move would help in encouraging companies to better conditions of service for their employees.
