Minister of Health Joseph Kasonde says the construction of the 650 health posts across the country is progressing well.
Dr. Kasonde told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that his ministry is working hard to ensure that the construction is completed on time so that the public can access health services nearer them.
Dr. Kasonde noted that the health posts will cushion the pressure on other health centres across the country currently servicing huge populations.
He said most health centres cannot meet the demand of the growing population and this has led to major Hospitals working under pressure.
Dr. Kasonde said the delay in the construction of the health centres was attributed to the fact that contractors needed upfront payment before starting the project.
He said after reaching slab level most contractors demanded to be given part payment for works done.
Dr. Kasonde said those logistical challenges have since been addressed and hence works are in progress
