—-Lufwanyama District Council has announced that it will soon embark on implementing new projects for the first quarter of 2015.
Council Secretary, Henry Chawah, indicated that the council has already received about K1.4 million for the implementation of new projects and completion of old projects.
He told ZANIS this afternoon that the new projects that are earmarked for implementation include the construction of culverts at Mubila and Mibende stream in Kasonka Ward at K150, 000, construction of culverts at Sambantenga stream in Lusuwishi Ward at K180,000 and at Chitanta River in Mpindi Ward at K180,000.
Others are the construction of culverts on Kalulushi stream in Bulaya Ward at a cost of K180, 000, construction of culverts at Chimalimbe stream in Mushingali Ward at K150, 000, construction of culverts at Chinsa stream in Mwelushi Ward at K150, 000 and at Chapula and Muleyi streams in Chabanga Ward at K150, 000.
Mr Chawah added that other new projects will include the procurement of a banana boat in Kasanta Ward at K12, 000 and construction of a 1×2 classroom block at Milopa Secondary School in Boso Ward at K180, 000.
He said the completion of a maternity wing at Mibenge Rural Health Centre in Kabundia Ward will be at a cost of K50, 000.
Meanwhile, Mr Chawah said the council will have a meeting tomorrow to formulate a work plan on how the projects are going to be implemented.
He said the council is committed to ensuring that the projects are effectively implemented as it is part of government’s commitment to develop the district.
