Government donates to disability
Mbala, Feb 3, 2015,ZANIS—Government through the department of Social Welfare in Mbala has donated 12 wheel chairs to people with disabilities.
Mbala District Commissioner Best Kabulembe presented the wheel chairs to the 12 identified beneficiaries at his offices today.
Mr. Kabulembe said government was committed to ensuring that the lives of the disabled are improved by providing social services and facilities like wheel chairs to ease their mobility.
He appealed to the beneficiaries to make use of the facilities which were sourced through the Zambia Agency for People with Disabilities (ZAPD) to improve their mobility.
And one of the beneficiaries, Joel Simusokwe thanked government for the gesture.
Mr. Simusokwe said the provision of the wheel chairs to the disabled people in the district will improve their mobility which had been a challenge to them.
He appealed to government to consider allocating more wheel chairs to the Social Welfare department in Mbala to enable other disabled people to also benefit.
