PRESIDENT LUNGU MOURNS CONSOLES PRESIDENT SISSI OVER DEATH OF 30 PEOPLE
Lusaka, 31ST January 2015—His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia has sent a message of condolence to his Egyptian counterpart His Excellency Mr. Abdel Fattah Sissi following the killing of more than 30 people in a terror attack.
“It is with a deep sense of sorrow that I learnt of the cowardly acts of violence against your nationals in the area of Sinai. On behalf of theGovernment and people of the Republic of Zambia, I wish to convey to Your Excellency, and through you, to the Egyptian people, and the bereaved families in particular, our heartfelt condolences,” President Lungu said in a letter in Addis Ababa today.
“May I take this opportunity, Your Excellency, to express my desire that the friendly and brotherly relations that exist between our two countries will grow from strength to strength for the mutual benefit of our two peoples.”
President Lungu assured Egypt of Zambia’s support to in that country’s efforts to combat terrorism.
The Head of State met President El Sissi on January 29 on the sidelines of the AU Summit in Addis Ababa and discussed several bilateral issues including bilateral cooperation to combat terrorism.
