Daniel Munkombwe to petition Parliament over President Lungu’s decision

FORMER Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe intends to petition to Parliament over President Lungu’s decision to revoke his appointment as nominated Member of Parliament (MP) and provincial minister.
Mr Munkombwe said in an interview in Lusaka on Thursday that he will file a complaint to Parliament before making a detailed comment on the President’s decision.
“I will not comment on the revocation of my nomination until I complain to Parliament in two days’ time,” Mr Munkombwe said.
On Wednesday, President Lungu revoked the nomination of Mr Munkombwe as MP.

Earlier this month, Mr Munkombwe said at a public rally in Choma that he was no longer interested in being a minister and that he was already settled at his farm in Choma.
This was when he endorsed the candidature of United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema for the just-ended Presidential election.
He said then that he had been marginalised by the Patriotic Front (PF). Mr Munkombwe further said he could not wait to be fired in an event that Mr Lungu won the election.
He accused the PF leadership of marginalising him and said he could not be used by some political amateurs who recently joined the ruling party.
