ACTING President Inonge Wina has warned that law-enforcement agencies will act firmly against any perpetrators of violence to stop the trend.
Ms Wina said it was unacceptable to perpetrate violence against people that supported or affiliated to the party of their choice because that was their democratic right.
The Acting President’s warning comes in the wake of increasing reports of sporadic violence that has been reported in some parts of the country after the recent presidential election.
“People are entitled to a different opinion when addressing or presenting opposing views,” Ms Wina said in a statement released by senior private secretary to the Vice-President Robert Kamalata.
Ms Wina urged Zambians to concentrate on looking for solutions to eliminate poverty in the country instead of perpetrating violence against one another.
