The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has added its voice lauding the appointment of Inonge Wina as the first female vice President of Zambia.
IBA Director General Josephine Mapoma commended President Lungu for appointing Wina as the first female Vice President of the country.
In a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Ms Mapoma said the appointment of women into top decision making positions is a step towards fulfilling the African Union Protocols of ensuring that women are equally represented in decision making positions in all sectors.
“The IBA are happy that the new president followed the steps of his predecessor of appointing women to high ranking positions” she said.
Ms Mapoma expressed optimism that Ms Wina will greatly contribute to the country, as she has previously demonstrated in her various portfolios.
Mapoma further added that appointing Wina as vice president is a sign of government’s goodwill and commitment to elevate more women to higher positions so that they can be accorded a chance to serve in influential positions.
