Lungu expected at AU Summit
Lusaka, January 27, ZANIS–President Edgar Lungu is expected in Addis Ababa Ethiopia to attend the 24th session of the African Union (AU) Assembly.
The President who will be accompanied by First Lady Esther Lungu will address the assembly on January 30th as per tradition for the newly elected Head of State.
Mr. Lungu is also expected to hold a number of bilateral meetings during the summit while the First Lady will attend the meeting of the Organisation of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA).
The 24th session of the AU summit which started on January 23 and ends on January 31 is being held under the theme “Year of Women’s Empowerment and Development towards Africa Agenda 2063”.
This is according to a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today by the Zambian Embassy in Ethiopia.
And the Zambian delegation comprising Minister of Foreign affairs Harry Kalaba, Minister of Health Joseph Kasonde and Tourism and Arts Minister who is acting Minister of Gender and Child Development Jean Kapata arrived in Addis Ababa last evening for the summit.
Mr. Kalaba is today expected to attend the closing meeting of the Executive Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs while Mr. Kasonde is expected to attend a meeting on the Ebola epidemic in Africa.
