-United Party for National Development (UPND) has got the highest results in Katombola Constituency from the just ended Presidential elections.
Out of a total number of 61 polling stations in the area, UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema has scooped 15, 478 followed by Patriotic Front (PF)’s Edgar Lungu with 479 votes.
Erick Chanda of Fourth Revolution (4R) scooped 116 votes while Godfrey Miyanda of Heritage Party (HP) only managed 82 votes.
Other Presidential candidates in the race are Nevers Mumba of Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) who got 76 votes, Tilyenji Kaunda of United National Independency Party (UNIP) with 101 votes and Elias Chipimo Jnr of National Restoration Party (NAREP) with 58 votes.
Meanwhile, Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) Edith Nawakwi managed to get 25 votes, Daniel Pule of Christian Democratic Party with eleven votes, Peter Sinkamba of Greens Party has 19 votes and Ludwig Sondashi managed only eight votes.
Returning Officer for Katombola Constituency, Mwashya Musonda, declared the said results at Kazungula district council at 06:47 hours this morning.
Mr Musonda further declared a total of 203 ballots papers as rejected and invalid while there were no disputed ballots.
Katombola Constituency has a total number of 42, 934 registered voters.
The delay of the results was as a result of the bad road network in most parts of the polling stations due to heavy rainfall that was characterised in most parts of the area.
