—United Party for National Development (UPND) has scooped Lukulu East Constituency presidential elections for January 20, 2015.
Lukulu East Constituency Returning Officer, Derrick Kanyamba, announced the results of the poll last evening at 23:35 hours at the totalling centre that UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema got 6, 312 while his closest rival Edgar Lungu for the Patriotic Front got 1, 456.
Mr Kanyamba further announced that FDD’s Edith Nawakwi got 67 votes followed by Eric Chanda for the 4th Revolution Party and Godfrey Miyanda for Heritage party who both got 57 votes each.
UNIP’s Tiliyenji Kaunda has polled 46 votes followed by Elias Chipimo for NAREP who has polled 39 votes making MMD’s Nevers Mumba coming number eight in the constituency with 15 votes.
Others are Daniel Pule for CDP who got 13 votes, Peter Sinkamba for Green Party and Ludwig Sondashi for FDA who got eight votes respectively.
Eighty-two ballot papers were rejected as invalid and a total number 8, 160 out of 25, 148 voters in the constituency had cast their votes in the just ended presidential elections.
Meanwhile, Lukulu District Electoral Officer, Alfred Mungalu, has described the just ended elections as free and fair in the district but lamented that there has been a lot of voter apathy.
