The Electoral Commission of Zambia says the final results for Presidential election may not be ready until Thursday or Friday.
ECZ Director, Priscilla Isaacs says this because of the rainy conditions that have hampered the timely distribution of ballot papers and deployment of poll staff in some constituencies.
Speaking during a press briefing at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre last evening, Ms Isaacs said voting may be extended in the affected rural areas where heavy rain hindered ballot distribution.
She said most bridges in rural areas have been submerged putting pressure on the Zambia Air Force which is now servicing more areas than initially planned.
The commission has contracted Zambia Airforce to distribute and collect electoral material and staff in remote areas not accessible by road or water transport.
She has appealed to Zambians to be patient and peaceful.
