Zambian midfielder Nathan Sinkala will play no further part at the Africa Cup of Nations after suffering an injury in Sunday’s game against DR Congo.
The 24-year-old hurt his knee during the Group B opener which ended 1-1.
Zambia team doctor Joseph Kabungo informed the Football Association of Zambia that the injury will need at least four weeks to heal.
The loss of Sinkala is a big blow to Chipolopolo’s hopes of success at the finals in Equatorial Guinea.
He was part of the squad that won the tournament in 2012 and is one of the stars of the current first-team.
Zambia’s next match is against Tunisia on Thursday.
